English Wedding Hat

My dear friend Claire is getting married in Oxford, England this weekend. The invitation (which I designed) reads "Hats Encouraged" in a flowing calligraphy script. So I went to all of the department stores in the city and came up with nothing but sun hats and unfortunate Burberry visors. Then I stopped into Barneys and found this little number by Deanna Gibbons. Hooray for me! I am justifying the splurge by wearing an old dress. I will be posting pictures from the actual wedding, but I thought I would post a sneak peak. Isn't it cool?!

Christina in Wicker Park

What a refreshing cotton outfit for a hot summer day. The high-waisted pleated pants, lace blouse and leather back pack remind me a little bit of the movie the English Patient minus the bandages...

Victoria in the Gold Coast

The people in and around the Gold Coast are not known for being particularly stylish.  This is ironic because the focus of the neighborhood is clothes and fashion (much of the high-end shopping in the city located here). So this woman really stood out, walking out of Barneys on Oak street.  Her outfit is casual, but worn in a way that is interesting and elegant. I love the pin on her skirt.

Love the fishing vest inspired shirt, rolled up trouser shorts and red flip-flops.

Sarah on Ashland

Great bangs and smile. Her striped slip on tennis shoes are also super sweet.

Red on Chicago Avenue

Coordinating lipstick and cowboy boots is just about as good as it gets.
